Founded in 1990 the DLRA (Dry Lakes Racing Association) organizes and runs the annual ‘Speed Week’ at Lake Gairdner, a salt lake 440 kms N.E of Adelaide, South Australia. This unique week long event gives entrants the opportunity to run their vehicles flat out across the salt as fast as they dare go.

Drivers from around Australia and the globe come to compete and records are often broken across the many diverse vehicular classes, from stock motorbikes to jet engined ‘lakesters’ and everything in between.

Held during the last week of March the event is a real mad grab bag of machines and the characters who pilot them. It’s definitely a must see for any gearhead worth their salt.
